The Cerritos College women's track and field team dominated their Cerritos Quad meet and posted wins in seven field events and two running races on Friday. The Falcons will now enter their distance runners in the Occidental Invitational on Friday, with the rest of the team competing in the UC Irvine Five-Way Meet on Saturday.

In winning seven of the field events, Cerritos saw sophomore Dorienne Ordaz (Bravo HS) and freshman Destiny Mack-Talalemotu (Long Beach Millikan HS) each win a pair of events. Ordaz picked up a first place in the hammer throw at 46.05 meters, which edged Mack-Talalemotu, who posted a distance of 44.40. In the javelin, Ordaz won with a distance of 35.02, while sophomore Kelly Magana (Cantwell HS) was in second place at 34.06 and Mack-Talalemotu taking third place at 33.96. In the event, the Falcons represented the top six places.

Mack-Talalemotu won the shot put (13.81 meters), while sophomore Alexus Dalton (Long Beach Poly HS) placed second at 11.51 meters. Mack-Talalemotu (40.77 meters) and Ordaz (37.52 meters) were the top two finishers in the discus, while Dalton picked up a win in the high jump when she cleared 1.69 meters. Freshmen Isabel Paredes (Paramount HS) and Jennifer Calderon (Cerritos HS) shared first place in the pole vault at 2.90 meters, with freshman Marielle Owens (Carson HS) picking up a win in the triple jump at 11.50 meters.

In the running events, freshman Ariel Melendez (St. Paul HS) posted a time of 4:58.38 to win the 1500 meters, with sophomore Patricia Hurley (Mark Keppel HS) finishing in a time of 5:00.76 for third place. Sophomore Killie King (Mayfair HS) won the 400 meters in 59.02, with freshman Citlaly Fabela (La Serna HS) posting a pair of second place times in the 100-meter HH (17.39) and 400-meter IH (1:07.40).

Freshman Ariel Thomas (Warren HS) ran the 100 meters in 12.80 for second place, while King took third in the 200 meters at 25.85. As for sophomore Karina Sanchez (Warren HS), her time of 19:25.06 earned her a second place in the 5000 meters. The 1600-meter relay team of Dalton, sophomore Arbony Meighan (Carson HS), King and sophomore Ashley Sinkler (Long Beach Wilson HS) turned in a second place time of 3:58.47.
