For the second year in a row, and eighth time in school history, the Cerritos College women's track and field team captured the South Coast Conference championship. The Falcons, who finished with 285 team points to edge second place Mt. San Antonio College (253 points), have won six of those titles in the last 10 years. The team will now advance on to the Southern California Prelims, which will take place on May 3 at Riverside City College.

In winning the championship, Cerritos earned 176 of their team points in the field events and came in first place in seven of the eight events. Freshman Destiny Mack-Talalemotu (Long Beach Millikan HS) won three of the field events, with sophomore Alexus Dalton (Long Beach Poly HS) earning wins in two events. Also posting first place finishes for the Falcons were sophomore Dorienne Ordaz (Bravo HS) and freshman Marielle Owens (Carson HS). Sophomore Patricia Hurley (Mark Keppel HS) earned the lone win in the running events, as she earned the conference championship in the 3000-meter steeplechase.

Mack-Talalemotu posted the second best discus throw in school history, as she recorded a distance of 47.18 meters to easily win the event. Her shot put of 13.73 meters out-distanced second place Ordaz (11.18 meters) and third place Dalton (10.70 meters), while she finished off her three-win day with a javelin throw that went 40.27 meters. Just like in the shot put, the same trio finished in the top three spots, but this time Dalton (35.60 meters) and Ordaz (34.47 meters) switched places.

Ordaz bested Mack-Talalemotu in the hammer, as her throw of 43.10 meters earned her a first place finish, with 42.94 meters good for second place. Dalton captured the conference title in the high jump with a height of 1.63 meters, while her long jump of 5.82 meters defeated the field. Freshman Ariel Thomas (Warren HS) came in third place at 5.40 meters. Owens recorded a triple jump distance of 11.18 meters to finish in first place, while freshman Raiven Ellis (California HS) was edged out for second place with her leap of 10.86 meters.

In the running events, freshman Jenai Vickers (Lakewood HS) posted the third best time in school history in the 100-meter HH, as she came in second place in 14.48. Dalton, the school record holder in the event, finished in third place at 14.63. Sophomore Angelyca Osnaya-Tyson (Long Beach Poly HS) ran the 800 meters in 2:24.08, which put her in second place, while her 1500-meter time of 4:57.51 was good for third place. Freshman Ariel Melendez (St. Paul HS), who came in fourth place in the 1500 meters (4:58.74), also finished in fifth in the 800 meters at 2:23.72.

Sophomore Karina Sanchez (Warren HS) took second place in the 10,000 meters with a time of 41:44.51, which is almost three minutes off her personal best time, while freshman Citlaly Fabela (La Serna HS) saw her 400-meter IH time of 1:05.43 put her in third place.
