For the third time this year, Cerritos College freshman thrower Destiny Mack-Talalemotu (Long Beach Millikan HS) has set a new standard in the shot put. On Friday at the Willie Williams Classic, held at the University of Arizona, Mack-Talalemotu eclipsed her record distance by setting a new mark of 14.83 meters to come in fourth place overall. She concluded the meet by placing in the top seven in three other events.

This weekend, the Falcons will split their squad, as part of the team will take part in the UC Riverside Spring Classic, while the remainder of the team will travel to the Pasaena Games.

Along with her record-breaking performance in the shot put, Mack-Talalemotu came in second place in the javelin, with a distance of 36.39 meters, while sophomore teammate Alexus Dalton (Long Beach Poly HS) was in third at 36.14 meters. In the discus, the distance of 41.83 meters put Mack-Talalemotu in fourth place, while she came in seventh place in the hammer throw at 47.24 meters. Sophomore Dorienne Ordaz (Bravo HS) came in sixth place in the gammer at 47.30 meters.

As for Dalton, she won the long jump with a distance of 5.51 meters, while her high jump of 1.70 meters earned her a third place finish. In the 100-meter HH, Dalton recoded a fifth place time of 14.74, with freshman Jenai Vickers (Lakewood HS) taking eighth in 15.57, while her time of 1:06.47 put her in third place in the 400-meter IH.

Freshman Ariel Thomas (Warren HS) tied for third place in the long jump at 5.47 meters, with freshman Marielle Owens (Carson HS) recording a third place triple jump of 11.36 meters.
