With the South Coast Conference Prelims just a few weeks away, the Cerritos College women's track and field team is gearing up for another repeat of their state championship from last season. The Falcons, who won one event and placed second in six others at the Arnie Robinson Invitational on Saturday, will be sending their heptathletes to the Southern California Heptathlon Championships this Tuesday and Wednesday at Mt. San Antonio College.

Picking up a win for Cerritos at the invitational was freshman triple jumper Marielle Owens (Carson HS), who cleared a distance of 11.43 meters, while freshman teammate Ariel Thomas (Warren HS) was in third place at 10.59 meters. Sophomore thrower Dorienne Ordaz (Bravo HS) eared a trio of second place finishes. She took second in the discus (38.73 meters), hammer (44.71 meters) and javelin (33.93 meters), while her distance of 10.49 meters was good enough to earn her a fourth place in the shot put.
