Winning a pair of events and posting 20 top five finishes, the Cerritos College women's track and field team compiled 149 team points to finish in second place at the Stanislaus State Invitational on Saturday. The Falcons trailed only Chico State University, who finished with 217 team points. The team will now compete in the Cal State Los Angeles Open on Thursday.
In winning the 100 meters, sophomore Rionna Wallace (Lakewood HS/Cal State Northridge) also posted the fourth best time in the state at 11.90, while sophomore teammate Aryianna Faircloth (Magnolia HS) recorded a second place time of 11.95. That also moved her into sixth place in the state this season in the event. Faircloth also came in second place in the 200 meters, which moved her into fourth place in the state in the event.
The team's other first place on the day came from the 400-meter relay team of Faircloth, Wallace, Jazzmine Davis (El Camino Real Charter HS) and Kimora Rogers (Katella HS), who turned in a time of 46.53. It also marked the second fastest time in the state this season. As for the 1600-meter relay team of Davis, Sophie Lopez (Fountain Valley HS), Wallace and Crystal Nguyen (Fountain Valley HS), they posted a time of 3:56.24, which was also the second fastest time in the state this year.
Sophomore Angelina Escobar (Bell Gardens HS) moved into fifth in the state with her discus throw of 41.18 meters, which was good for second place in the invitational. Making her season debut, sophomore Faitalia Ah-Fook (Warren HS) shot straight up to fourth in the state in the hammer with a third place finish at 45.91 meters.
