Led by three first place finishes, the Cerritos College women's track & field team finished in second place at the 3C2A State Championships at San Mateo College over the weekend. The Falcons finished with 84 team points to easily secure their runner-up position and trailed only South Coast Conference rival Mt. San Antonio College. It was the best finish for Cerritos since they won the state championship in 2019.

Having a hand in 39 of the team's total points, Jazzmine Davis (El Camino Real Charter HS) won two individual state titles and ran the first leg of the 4x100-meter relay team that came in first place. Davis ran the first leg and was joined by Rionna Wallace (Lakewood HS), Crystal Nguyen (Fountain Valley HS) and Aryianna Faircloth (Magnolia HS), who turned in a championship time of 46.05. She also handled the first leg of the fourth place 4x400-meter relay quartet that also included Sophie Lopez (Fountain Valley HS), Faircloth and Elena Mack (El Camino Real Charter HS). They were clocked in 3:54.81.

Davis also won the 100-meter HH with a blazing time of 13.72, which moved her into second place on the school's all-time top five list. Her clocking of 1:04.59 earned her a fifth place result in the 400-meter IH. The other state championship for Davis came in the heptathlon, as her point total of 4704 was over 400 points ahead of her closest competition. It also moved her into a tie for fourth place on the school's all-time top five list.

Also concluding their Cerritos career with an impressive state championship was thrower Angelina Escobar (Bell Gardens HS). Her distance of 43.80 meters put her in second place in the discus, while she placed third in the javelin at 34.90 meters. Add to that a sixth place result in the hammer at 44.34 meters and she amassed 14 team points. Sophomore teammate Faitalia Ah-Fook (Warren HS) finished in second place in the hammer at 47.27 meters.

Wallace, who ran in the state championship winning 4x100-meter relay, finished second in the 100 meters at 11.73, while Faircloth posted fifth place finishes in the 200 meters (24.68) and a seventh place finish in the 100 meters (11.93). Sophomore Lauren Berg (Fountain Valley HS), who just started running the 3000 meter steeplechase halfway into the season, registered a sixth place time of 12:26.11.
