With three events in the books at the SoCal Prelims, the Cerritos College women's track and field team is in first place with 38 team points. The Falcons, who won the South Coast Conference championship last weekend, will return to San Diego Mesa College on Friday for try and win their first SoCal title since 2019.

The team scored 19 of their points in the hammer where sophomore Faitalia Ah-Fook (Warren HS) won the championship with a throw of 48.43 meters, while sophomore teammate Angelina Escobar (Bell Gardens HS) recorded a third place distance of 44.77 meters. Earning three team points with a sixth place finish was freshman Milika Burdett (Cypress HS) with a best throw of 42.90 meters. The javelin netted the team six more points with Escobar finishing in third place with a throw of 32.97 meters.

Although they didn't score any points in the 10,000 meters, the heptathlon continues to net points for Cerritos. With sophomore Jazzmine Davis (El Camino Real Charter HS) winning the event back in April, it scored 10 points for the team, while the seventh and eighth place results by Michelle Campos (Warren HS) and Amayaah Williamson (Palisades HS) combined to add three more points.
