The shots were dropping for the Cerritos College men's basketball team on Saturday in their non-conference game against visiting Allan Hancock College. The Falcons (9-2) connected on 62% of their shots from the field, en route to a 103-73 win over the Bulldogs (4-7). The team will now enter the College of the Sequoias Tournament next weekend and open with a 6:00 p.m. game against Oxnard College.

In the win over Allan Hancock, Cerritos drained 39-of-63 shots (61.9%), which included 13 three-pointers by a combined seven players. A quartet of Falcons scored in double figures, with the biggest output coming from freshman guard Darryl McMillon, Jr. (View Park HS) who netted four three-pointers in as many attempts and finished with 16 points, along with three rebounds and three assists.

The first two minutes saw the Falcons take a 7-0 lead to start the game and after sophomore Brian Nebo (St. John Bosco HS) dropped a three-pointer, it was a 20-9 lead with 13:36 left in the first half. They continued to add to their lead and it was 26-9 on the strength of six straight points from freshman forward Dezmon Murphy (La Mirada HS).

Cerritos took a 53-31 lead into halftime, as sophomore Salvador Carlos (Downey HS/Biola University) scored all 15 of his points in the first 20 minutes. Sophomore forward Cristian Perez (Santa Fe HS) led the team with 17 points, while Murphy and McMillon, Jr. each scored their 16 points coming off the bench. With their hot shooting, the Falcons only collected only 27 rebounds, but recorded assists on 25 of their 39 baskets.

Nebo (five points, nine rebounds) and freshman Malik Smith (Gahr HS) each dished out four assists in the win, while Cerritos also got solid scoring performances from Jonathan Guzman (Paramount HS) and Riley Hamilton (Rancho Verde HS) off the bench, as they each accounted for nine points.
