For the second time in three days, the Cerritos College men's basketball team suffered one-point South Coast Conference South Division losses. The Falcons (14-5, 0-2) were hit with a last-second loss to ECC Compton Center at home on Wednesday and were then defeated 74-73 on the road to Los Angeles Southwest College. The team has eight regular season games remaining and will look to get into the win column in division play on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. when they host Los Angeles Harbor College.

The game against the Cougars was tight from start to finish, and if Cerritos has anything to look at, it would be their free throw shooting. At times, the Falcons have been an excellent free throw shooting team, but missed 10 (27-for-37) in the one-point loss. Additionally, they shot a porous 39% from the field and netted just 2-of-13 from three-point range.

Coming off the bench, freshman Dezmon Murphy (La Mirada HS) produced 12 points and shared the team lead with eight rebounds, while also blocking four shots. Sophomore guard Tyler Payne (La Mirada HS) led the team with 15 points, was 7-for-8 from the charity stripe, and dished out four assists. As for sophomores Anthony Lefeau (Orange Lutheran HS) and Brian Nebo (St. John Bosco HS), they combined for 22 points, with Lefeau pulling down six rebounds and Nebo posting four assists.

Also playing well off the bench was freshman Jonathan Guzman (Paramount HS), who recorded 10 points and four rebounds, with sophomores Cristian Perez (Santa Fe HS) and Salvador Carlos (Downey HS/Biola University) each scoring five points, with Perez hauling in eight rebounds.
