The Falcons saw their eight-game winning streak come to an end

It had been 19 days since the Cerritos College men's basketball team had played a game before Tuesday's encounter at Antelope Valley College. The Falcons (13-3) shot a poor 33% from the field and it resulted in a 77-65 loss to the Marauders (13-6). The team will look to rebound on Saturday when they face Rio Hondo College at 4:00 p.m. in the Reggie Morris Showcase, with the game taking place at Los Angeles Southwest College.

Cerritos fell behind in the first half against Antelope Valley and trailed, 42-34 heading into halftime. However, the Falcons went on a 14-2 run to start the second half and led, 48-44 after a Brian Nebo (St. John Bosco HS) layup with 17:07 left on the clock. The team was aided in the run with seven points from sophomore Anthony Lefeau (Orange Lutheran HS) and five from sophomore Cristian Perez (Santa Fe HS), with both netting three-pointers along the way.

With the game tied at 52-52 with 15:01 left in the second half, the Falcons hit a cold spell, which ended up costing them the game. They converted only 2-of-18 shots the rest of the game, while the Marauders slowly pulled away for the win. Cerritos didn't help their cause at the free throw line, as they made only 9-of-17 during the final 15 minutes and were just 22-of-36 on the night.

Perez led the team with 18 points and seven rebounds, while sophomore Salvador Carlos (Downey HS/Biola University) finished with 12 points and three boards. The Falcons also received 10 points each from Nebo (seven rebounds) and Lefeau (three rebounds), with sophomore Tyler Payne (La Mirada HS) adding seven points and three rebounds.
