One of the team's leading scorers in 2022, Gabriel Oropeza, has signed with Azusa Pacific University. A 2nd Team All-South Coast Conference pick, Oropeza recorded seven goals and seven assists after transferring from Hope International University. He is the 11th player to sign with a four-year school and 115th Falcon player to sign with a four-year school since 2004.

Oropeza was fifth on the team in goals and third in assists, which included a pair of goals in the season-opener last year. His highlight of the year was a seven-point game, with his two goals and three assists against Compton College.

He will be looked up to bring his speed and accurate shot to the Cougars, who open their season on August 31 against Cal State Dominguez Hills. The team went 6-8-4 last season.

Oropeza is the first Falcon to sign with Azusa Pacific since Ivan Del Campo in 2016.
