Falcons men's soccer team posted 2-0 win over Golden West
Continuing to show marked improvements since the beginning of the season, the Cerritos College men's soccer team won their fifth game in a row, as they shut out host Golden West, 2-0 on Friday. It was also the fourth shutout during the five-game winning streak. The Falcons (5-3-1) host Taft College next Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. in a game that will test the team's offensive success. The Cougars are one of the top defensive teams in the state.

"This was a good win for us today, said head coach Benny Artiaga. "The guys continue to get better every day, and like we told them, the plan is to play our best soccer in league and playoffs."

It took the Falcons 18 minutes to score what would turn out to be the game-winning goal. Freshman Adrian Aguilar (Banning HS) sent a crisp pass to freshman Donavan Perez (South East HS) and he redirected the pass into the net for his team-leading sixth goal of the season.

Holding on to a slim 1-0 lead in the second half, sophomore goalkeeper Juan Pablo Camacho (Norwalk HS) came up with the save of the game, as he stopped a point-blank shot.

Looking to maintain possession of the ball in the waning minutes of the game, freshman Miguel Gonzalez drilled a shot into the back of the net for his third goal of the season and secured the victory.

On the day, the Falcons took 17 shots, with 11 of them on net. Both Perez and sophomore Kevin Meza (ASU Preparatory Academy HS/Illinois State University) each had four.
