Held without a shot on goal in the first half, the Cerritos College men's soccer team struggled to get any chances and went on to suffer a 1-0 home loss to Norco College on Tuesday. It marked the second season in a row that the Falcons (1-1-0) were shut out by the Mustangs (1-0-1). The team will travel to the Hartnell Tournament this weekend and open on Friday at 12:00 p.m. against the host Panthers.

Against Norco, Cerritos surrendered a goal in the 13th minute when they were unable to clear the ball out of their own zone. The Mustangs Dakota Medina was able to get a shot past freshman goalkeeper Griffin Welch (Long Beach Poly HS), who made three saves on the day.

Although Norco had a goal taken away due to an offside call two minutes later, the Falcons could only put together small pockets of offensive pressure. Their best scoring chance came from sophomore Erick Velasco (Norwalk HS), whose shot deflected off the face of Mustangs goalkeeper Adan Zamora. Cerritos also had two of their shots blocked by field players before they got to the next on what looked like solid scoring chances.
