After a season where Cerritos College men's soccer player Jose Lopez (MY Academy HS) was voted the South Coast Conference South Division Co-Offensive Player of the Year, the forward has committed to Cal State Los Angeles. Lopez, who led the conference and team leader in goals (14) and points (35), Lopez also assisted on seven others, with five of his goal game-winners.

He scored three times against Glendale College this season, while adding a pair of goals three other times. He scored both goals in the win over Mt. San Antonio College, as well as the lone goal in a win over Los Angeles City College and in a 1-1 tie with Long Beach City College. He scored five game-winning goals as a sophomore. Lopez, a 2nd Team all-conference recognition his freshman year, recorded four goals and nine assists.

Lopez (pictured, left) will be joining a Cal State Los Angeles program that went 12-3-6 in 2024 and advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament. The Golden Eagles were making its 18th NCAA appearance and 12th in the past 13 years. They have a combined 45-6-12 over the past three seasons.
