Fresh off a third place finish in the South Coast Conference Tournament, the Cerritos College men's soccer team has been seeded #4 for the upcoming Southern California Regional Playoffs. The Falcons (13-2-5), unbeaten in their last 17 games (12-0-5), finished in second place in the SCC South Division, with three of the top four seeds coming from the division. Cerritos will host the winner of the #13-seed Santa Barbara City College (11-6-3) vs. #20-seeded Golden West College (5-9-5), who face off in the first round on Wednesday. The second round game will be played at Cerritos at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Earlier in the season, Cerritos defeated Golden West, 5-1, and are 7-0-1 in their last eight meetings, while they have not faced SBCC in over 25 years.

The Vaqueros, who were the Western State Conference North Division champions, were on a nine-game unbeaten streak (8-0-1) until they ended the regular season with a 2-1 loss to #12-seeded Los Angeles Mission College. They have been led by committee, as 13 players have scored at least one goal, with the tandem of Juan Carlos Torres and Mario David Vega leading them with five each. The goalkeeping has been shared by Marco Rotundo and Miles Keane, who have a combined 1.80 goals against average.

As for Golden West, 4-1-2 in their final seven games, have turned to Jorge Orozco, who has scored seven of their 21 goals on the season, with Trevor Jones handling the majority of the goalie duties. He has registered a 1.70 goals against average for the Rustlers.

Cerritos has seen the duo of Jose Lopez and Donovan Perez scored 14 and 12 goals, while they have also combined for 15 assists. A trio of other players have scored at least three goals, with sophomore Erick Velasco scoring twice in the conference tournament third place game and now has seven for the season. Griffin Welch has been a stalwart in goal and has an 0.91 goals against average with eight shutouts.
