M. Swimming & Diving: Pair of 12th place finishes on the first day

On the first day of the CCCAA State Championships, the Cerritos College men's swimming team posted a pair of 12th place finishes in relay races. The Falcons, who are tied for 17th place with 20 team points, will be competing in four events on the second day and three more on the final day.

The quartet of Jason Ly (Villa Park HS), Joshua Owens (Kennedy HS), Marlon Moreno (Virgen del Rosario, Venezuela) and Angel Rojas (Fray Luis Amigo, Venezuela) competed in both relay races on the day. The posted a 12th place time in the 200-yard freestyle relay of 1:28.33, while their time of 3:34.61 in the 400-medley relay closed out their day. They hold the school record time of 3:33.43 in the 400-yard medley relay, which they set at the conference championships.

The foursome will swim in the 200-yard medley relay on Friday and the 400-yard freestyle relay on Saturday. Swimming in individual events are Moreno (100-yard breaststroke & 100-yard freestyle), as well as Ly in the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke. Freshman diver Nicholas Silos (Servite HS) will compete in the 1-meter event on Friday.
