As the final competitor for the Cerritos College men's swimming team, freshman Jason Ly (Villa Park HS) earned an 11th place finish in the 200-yard backstroke at the CCCAA State Championships on Saturday night. The Falcons, who had to withdraw from two relays events, as well as two individual events, finished in 20th place as a team with 33 points.
Ly, who took 10th place in the 100-yard backstroke on Friday, recorded a 12th place time in the prelims of the 200-yard event with a time of 1:58.78. He turned in a faster time of 1:57.16 to earn 11th place in the consolation race.
The Falcons missed out on competing in the 200-yard medley relay and 400-yard freestyle relay when sophomore Marlon Moreno (Virgen del Rosario, Venezuela) came down with a serious stomach virus. He also missed out on swimming in the 100-yard breaststroke and 100-yard freestyle.
