Led by nine first place finishes, the Cerritos College men's swimming team compiled 710 team points to come in first place at the Palomar Pentathlon on Saturday. The Falcons won four of the relay races and earned first place finishes in five of the individual events. They will now compete in the South Coast Conference Pentathlon on Friday at Pasadena City College.

The day started with the Falcons winning the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:49.14 with the quartet of Jason Ly (Villa Park HS), Nigel Rueda (Schurr HS), Jesus Rojas (Colegio Fray Luis Amigo, Venezuela) and Kaito Hori (Japan). The capped the event when the foursome of Rojas, Kento Anjima (Yokosuka, Japan), Hori and Isiah Gaytan (Whittier HS) recorded a time of 3:45.22 to win the 400-yard freestyle relay.

Individually, Rojas won the 100-yard butterfly (57.00) and 50-yard freestyle (23.81), while Ly posted a time of 4:45.00 to win the 400-yard IM. Ly also recorded a third place time of 57.95 in the 100-yard butterfly. It was a first place time of 1:10.69 for Rueda in the 100-yard breaststroke, while teammate Chris Martinez (Paramount HS) finished in third place at 1:19.52. Gaytan won the distance race of the day with his time of 11:03.61 in the 1000-yard freestyle, while Miguel Reynoso took third place in 11:47.99.

Cerritos also won the 350-yard butterfly relay, as well as the 200-yard freestyle relay.
