Playing their fourth road match in a row, the Cerritos College men's tennis team defeated NAIA school Westmont College, 7-2 on Thursday. The Falcons (4-1) will complete their five straight road matches on Friday when they travel to Grossmont College for a 2:00 p.m. match.

It was a battle to the end in all three doubles matches, with Cerritos pulling out two of the three heading into singles play. After the top two doubles matches were split by identical 8-6 scores, the tandem of freshman Dario Rico-Altozano (Colegio Cumbre, Spain) and sophomore Kwangeun Lee (Sunny Hills HS) were able to pull out a 9-7 victory. Freshmen Kent Hunter (Home Schooled) and Victor Castro (Novo Hamburgo, Brazil) also won in the top double spot, 8-6.

The Falcons won four of the five singles matches in straight sets, with Hunter showing his dominance over John Joens at the top of the ladder with a 6-0, 6-1 victory. Castro held serve in the #2 spot with a 6-2, 6-3 decision, while Rico-Altozano and freshman Alex Prokopchuk (School 45, Ukraine) both earned 6-1, 6-4 wins. The only match to go to a tiebreaker came in the #5 position, with sophomore Biel Roca Carreras (Iguolada, Spain) escaping with a 6-2, 5-7, 10-6 victory.
