Coming off just their second loss of the season, the Cerritos College men's tennis team rebounded for a 7-2 non-conference win at Riverside City College on Friday. The Falcons (17-2) will travel to Citrus College on Tuesday to play a Western State Conference East Division doubleheader against Mt. San Antonio College.

Facing the previously undefeated Tigers (16-1), Cerritos won four of the singles matches in straight sets, while they pulled out two wins in doubles action to help post the win. Continuing to remain undefeated in both, freshman Kent Hunter (Home Schooled) recorded a dominant 6-1, 6-0 singles win after teaming with freshman Victor Castro (Novo Hamburgo, Brazil) to post an 8-5 win in doubles action. Castro fought back after losing the first set in his #2 singles match. Taking on Thomas Pidoux, Castro suffered a 6-7 (7-2) loss in the first set, but battled back for a 6-2 win in the second set and rode that momentum to a 10-1 third set tie-breaker.

Also winning in straight sets in singles play were freshman Alex Prokopchuk (School 45, Ukraine) and sophomore Biel Roca Carreras (Iguolada, Spain), while sophomore Marcos Paulo Silvestre (Colégio Tiradentes of PMMG, Brazil) was pushed to a tie-breaker in the second set of his #6 singles match. Prokopchuk earned a 6-4, 6-2 win, with Carreras handily defeating Sami Akouz, 6-2, 6-0. In the Silvestre match, he earned a 6-3 first set win over Thierry van Os, and then battled his way to a 7-6 (7-3) win for the victory in a second set tiebreaker.

The team's #3 doubles pairing of Carreras and freshman Kwangeun Lee (Sunny Hills HS) came up short in a tough 9-7 score in doubles action.
