With an all-Cerritos lineup in the Western State East Division Conference singles and doubles championship, it was only a matter of time to see who came out on top. After dispatching all of the other competition, the freshmen doubles pair of Kent Hunter and Victor Castro went on to defeat teammates Dario Rico-Altozano and Kwangeun Lee, 8-5 on Thursday. The win by the pair improved their season record to 17-0 as a pair, while the second place duo suffered just their third loss all season.

Next up was the conference singles title, with Hunter taking on Castro. The Falcons top two singles players, Hunter remained undefeated on the year with a come-from-behind 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 win, which marked just the third loss of the year for Castro.

All six singles players and each of the three doubles teams have qualified for the CCCAA State Tournament, which is set to take place on April 26-29 in Ojai. Prior to the start of that, Cerritos will host College of the Desert next Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in a Southern California Regional Team Playoff semifinal match.
