Taking on the two-time defending CCCAA Team Dual State Champions, the Cerritos College men's tennis team quickly dispatched visiting Irvine Valley, 9-0 on Tuesday. The Falcons (6-1) returned home after playing their last five matches on the road and are now playing their next five matches at home. Next up is a 2:00 p.m. match against Mesa (AZ) CC on Thursday.

Cerritos took a commanding 3-0 team score lead after doubles play and then carried that over into singles action, where they recorded six straight set wins. The closest doubles match came at the top of the order, with freshmen Kent Hunter (Home Schooled) and Victor Castro (Novo Hamburgo, Brazil) earning a tough 8-5 win. The duo also competed in the top two singles positions and registered 6-1, 6-3 and 6-3, 6-1 wins, respectively. At the #2 doubles match, freshman Dario Rico-Altozano (Colegio Cumbre, Spain) teamed with sophomore Kwangeun Lee (Sunny Hills HS) for an 8-3 win and then anchored the bottom of the singles ladder by combining to surrender just three games.

The most dominant doubles win was recorded by freshman Alex Prokopchuk (School 45, Ukraine) and sophomore Biel Roca Carreras (Iguolada, Spain) with an 8-1 victory, while Roca Carreras played in the #4 spot on the singles ladder and came away with a 6-3, 6-2 win. Prokopchuk recorded a quick 6-1 win in the first set at #3 and then finished off Thallys Santos, 6-3 in the second set.
