On Thursday, the Cerritos College men's tennis team extended their winning streak to 10 in a row after an 8-1 Western State Conference South Division win over visiting Mt. San Antonio College. The match was a make-up from February 27, which was rained out. The Falcons (13-1, 4-0) will host Ventura College in a non-conference match at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.

With the top three singles players sitting out the match, everyone moved up the ladder to face the Mounties. Sophomore Biel Roca Carreras (Iguolada, Spain) played his first match in the #1 position and recorded a solid 6-3, 6-0 win, while sophomore Kwangeun Lee (Sunny Hills HS) improved to 3-0 in the #2 position with his 6-1, 6-1 victory. In his first #3 match of the year, freshman Victor Plaza-Barnils (AESA Prep Academy, TX) held on to record the win after being extended to a tie-breaker, 6-3, 1-6, 10-8, with sophomore Marcos Paulo Silvestre (Colégio Tiradentes of PMMG, Brazil) coming away with a 6-2, 6-0 victory. Posting the same score, freshman Nico De La Pena (Downey HS) won his third match of the season in the #5 position on the ladder.

The duos of Carreras and Plaza-Barnils, along with De La Pena and freshman Jacob Corleto (Warren HS) each won their doubles matches by an 8-1 score. It marked the first time all season both of those players teamed with each other. In the #1 doubles match, Rico-Altozano and Lee improved to 8-2 together with their 8-5 win.
