Competing in a rare dual meet, the Cerritos College men's track and field team hosted South Coast Conference rival Mt. San Antonio College on Friday. The Falcons won five of the 18 events and came up short in the team scoring, 107-46. They will now host the Cerritos Open on February 23-24.

On the day, five different athletes won events, led by sophomore Jhamani Long (Cerritos HS), who captured the 800 meters and placed third in the 1500 meters. His time of 1:57.45 defeated the field in the shorter race, while his time of 4:10.03 in the 1500 meters was less than two seconds from coming in first place. Sophomore Zach Munoz (La Mirada HS/Cal State Fullerton) scored team points in three events, including a first place finish in the javelin at 49.83 meters. He also placed second in the high jump at 1.75 meters, while his time of 16.28 put him in third place in the 110-meter HH.

Sophomore Jaydon Logan (Artesia HS) took second place in the 110-meter HH in a time of 15.75, while his time of 22.57 earned him a third place in the 200 meters. Freshman Christopher Lawry (Ventura HS) went on to win the high jump when he cleared 1.90 meters. In other field events, sophomore Stacy Chukwumezie (Downey HS) long jumped 6.74 meters to come in first place, while freshman thrower Jorge Gonzalez (Ventura HS) earned a first and second place. His shot put of 13.82 meters was the best on the day, with his discus of 43.85 meters earning him a second place finish.

In the hammer throw, sophomore Giovanni Rubio (El Rancho HS) turned in a second place distance of 41.16 meters, with sophomore Aladdin Abuhadba (Downey HS) finishing in third place at 40.04 meters.
