Competing at the Legends of Track & Field at UCLA over the weekend, the Cerritos College men's track and field team turned in some strong marks. The Falcons were competing against a slew of four-year colleges and still managed to post six top five finishes, include one second place. Cerritos will now host the Southern California Decathlon Championship on April 4-5.

The best result of the weekend came from sophomore Jahmal King (Bellflower HS), who finished in second place in the 400 meters. King recorded a time of 48.83 and was barely edged by Damion Maxwell of UCLA with his time of 48.69. In the 1500 meters, freshman Abraxaz Sanchez (Schurr HS) ran a third place time of 4:03.26, with Cerritos also checking in with a trio of fourth place finishes.

Sophomore long jumper Stacy Chukwumezie (Downey HS) recorded a distance of 6.99 meters for his fourth place finish, while sophomore Jaydon Logan (Artesia HS) ran the 400-meter IH in a time of 53.28. Competing in the 800 meters C Race, sophomore James Penn (Mayfair HS) crossed the finish line in a time of 2:00.93.

In the field events, sophomore Giovanni Rubio (El Rancho HS) placed fifth in the shot put with a toss of 12.77 meters, while sophomore teammate Isaiah Chavez (Downey HS) was a close sixth place with a distance of 12.45 meters. Chavez also competed in the discus and finished in seventh place at 38.10 meters, with freshman Jorge Gonzalez (Ventura HS) checked in with a sixth place distance of 43.76 meters.
