M. Track & Field: Solid marks continue against four-year schools

Continuing to compete against four-year competition, the Cerritos College men's team has shown that they can post times and marks to be in contention for a good finish. While at the Aztec Invitational at San Diego State University over the weekend, the Falcons had eight top 10 finishes, which included a pair of first places. The team will compete in the UCLA Legends Invitational this weekend.

In the 200 meters, sophomore Daniel Stokes (Diamond Ranch HS/Mt. San Antonio College) turned in a first place time of 21.02, while freshman jumper Titus Houston (Narbonne HS) cleared 7.11 meters, which was the best mark turned in for the day. The day before, sophomore Kelly Brown (Wilson Magnet, NY HS/College of the Sequoias) competed in the 200 meters and saw his time of 21.55 put him in third place.

High jumper Destin Flucas (Cerritos HS) cleared 1.83 meters, which was good enough to earn him a tie for fourth place, with the 4x100-meter relay team of Christian Shakir-Ricks (Murrieta Mesa HS), Stokes, Brown and Kawika Jones (Green Valley, NV HS/Green River, WA College), turning in a fifth place time of 40.62.

Sprinter Trevor Reid (Notre Dame HS/Mt. San Antonio College) recorded the seventh fastest time in the 100 meters at 10.73, with sophomore Christian Santifer (Artesia HS) clocking a time of 50.65 in the 400 meters to earn a sixth place finish. In the field events, sophomore Jorge Gonzalez (Ventura HS) plaved sixth in the discus at 46.16 meters.
