Over the weekend, the Cerritos College men's track and field took part in both the Bob Larsen Distance Carnival on Friday and the Jim Bush Legends Meet on Saturday at UCLA. The team will continue their season next weekend at UC Irvine when they take part in the Vince O'Boyle Track & Field Calssic.

Highlighting the performances for the Falcons was sophomore Joshua Melendez (St. Paul HS) in the 1500 meters. Not only did he shave two seconds off the fastest time in in the state, his time of 3:51.80 moved his name into second place on the colleges' all-time Top 5 list. Melendez (pictured, left) only trails Daniel Herrera, who posted a time of 3:46.25 in 2012.

Continuing their outstanding performances on Saturday at the Jim Bush Legends Meet, Terrance Williams checked in with the state's fastest time in the 400 meters with his clocking of 47.33, which put him in third place on the day. The Falcons also recorded the state's second falsest time in the 4x400-meter relay, as well as the sixth best 4x100-meter relay time.

In the 4x400-meter relay, the quartet of Konnor Handy (St. John Bosco HS), Elijah Jones, Jeremy Ramirez (Warren HS) and Terrance Williams finished fifth in the race, but their time of 3:14.59 moved them into second place in the state, trailing only the time of 3:13.97, which was set by San Diego Mesa College a month prior. The foursome of Xavier Williams (Paramount HS), Ethan Rosborough (Narbonne HS), Te'Quan Chatman and Sebastian Lopez recorded a time of 41.60 in the race, which put them in second place. That time also moved them into sixth place in the state with their time.
