On Saturday, the Cerritos College men's water polo team competed in the Los Angeles Valley Tournament and split their two games. The Falcons (14-7) opened with a 25-7 loss to the host Monarchs and then followed that with an 11-1 victory over Santa Ana College. The team has the week off from South Coast Conference play and will take part in the Santa Monica Tournament on Friday.

Cerritos vs. Los Angeles Valley: A slow start by the Falcons put them in trouble and they were unable to hold off the Monarchs (10-3). It was a 14-4 deficit by halftime, as the team went on to suffer their most lopsided loss of the season. Sophomore Michael Hanna (Cerritos HS) scored twice, with five others posting one goal in the setback. All three of the team's goalies saw action, with freshman Grant Jimenez (Cerritos HS) playing the first half and recording four saves. Freshmen Felix Gonzalez (Montebello HS) and Kevin Rubio (La Serna HS) each assisted on a pair of goals.

Cerritos vs. Santa Ana: Just as they fell behind in their first game, the Falcons turned the tables with a fast start against the Dons, who are coached by former Cerritos play Al Reyes. It was a 5-1 lead after the first period, with the Falcons shutting out Santa Ana the rest of the way. Of the team's 11 goals, sophomore Max Gomez (Whittier HS) assisted on seven of them and scored one of his own in the match. Sophomore David Lumbreras (Downey HS) led the scoring attack with four goals, while Hanna and sophomores Alberto Gonzalez (Montebello HS/Mt. San Antonio College) and Andrew Javier (Cerritos HS) each scored twice. Sophomore goalie Pedro Rodriguez (Downey HS) had nine saves in the win, with Jimenez accounting for five saves and a steal.
