On Saturday morning at the Coyote Challenge in San Bernardino, the Cerritos College men's cross country team finished in eighth place with 213 team points. After taking next  week off, the Falcons will host the Cerritos Falcons Invitational on October 4 and will be held at Don Knabe Regional Park.

Six of the 10 schools that took part in the invitational were four-year institutions, with Cerritos finishing ahead of two of them. Running a long 8K course, Pablo Calderon (Downey HS) was the first Falcon runner to finish and was clocked in a time of 25:28.4, which put him in 26th place out of 134 entries that finished the course. Next to finish for Cerritos was Jaime Quinones (Downey HS), whose time of 26:11.4 put him in 57th place overall, while Alberto Serrano (St. John Bosco HS) wasn't far behind with his time of 26:26.0, putting him in 66th place.

Two Falcon runners finished in identical times of 26:59.3, with Antonio Calderon (La Mirada HS) credited with a 78th place finish and Daniel Alonzo (Artesia HS) garnering 79th place, which comprised of the final two runners that earned the team score.

Also competing on the day were Jordy Mazariegos (La Mirada HS; 27:19.2; 89th place), Anthony Cano (Whittier HS; 28:01.0; 99th place), Demian Sanchez Lopez (Schurr HS; 28:09.4; 102nd place), Eliab Ruiz (Norwalk HS; 29:10.4; 113th place) and Dhruv Patel (Cypress HS; 32:27.9; 123rd place).
