Competing in the South Coast Conference Championships on Friday, the Cerritos College men's cross country team finished in fourth place. Running at Irvine Regional Park in Irvine, the Falcons compiled 90 team points and were just edged out of third place by Los Angeles Harbor College, who finished with 87 team points. The team will now compete in the Southern California Championships, which will take place next Friday at Mission Bay Park in San Diego.

A pair of runners earned All-Conference recognition with their performance over the 4-mile course. Turning in a very solid fifth place finishing time of 22:24.1 was sophomore Pablo Calderon (Downey HS), who was named to the 1st Team, while sophomore Jaime Quinones (Downey HS) recorded a ninth place time of 22:48.2 and earned 2nd Team recognition. Locked in a tight race as they headed to the finish line, Quinones held off a pair of Mt. San Antonio College runners, while he was edged by less than a second against another Mountie runner.

Next to cross the finish line 18 seconds later was freshman Antonio Calderon (La Mirada HS), whose time of 23:06.9 earned him a 16th overall place showing. He missed out on a top 15 finish by .03 of a second. Exactly a minute later, freshman Jordy Mazariegos (La Mirada HS) took 31st place with his clocking of 24:06.1, with freshman Daniel Alonzo (Artesia HS) closing out the top five scoring finishers with a 46th place time of 25:02.3.

Also competing on the day for the Falcons were Eliab Ruiz (Norwalk HS; 25:10.3; 48th place), Alberto Serrano (St. John Bosco HS; 25:57.0; 59th place), Joe Munoz (Long Beach Jordan HS; 26:30.5; 62nd place), Jarrian Harrison (Long Beach Wilson HS; 26:40.0; 65th place) and Dhruv Patel (Cypress HS; 28:09.1; 77th place).
