As one of only four community colleges competing in the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational on Saturday, the Cerritos College men's cross country team finished in 16th place overall in the Open Team race. The Falcons finished with 395 team points in a race that was full of four-year schools and competed over an 8K course. The team will get a week to recover before they take part in the South Coast Conference Championships on October 28 at the Palos Verdes XC Course.

Cerritos, the only Southern California community college to compete in the invitational, was led by Jose Garcia Chavez (Norwalk HS), who was also the first community college runner to complete the course. His time of 26:31.5 was 86th overall out of 240 runners. It wasn't until 27:58.8 before the next Falcon runner crossed the finish line, as Aiden House-Ortiz (Lakewood HS) came in 156th place overall, while Rogelio Garcia (Salesian HS) was clocked in 28:38.6, which put him in 181st place.

Next up for the Falcons were the duo of Jeff Chmiel (Lakewood HS), whose time of 28:54.9 put him in 189th place, with Alan Diaz (Katella HS) turning in a time of 29:04.9, which placed him 190th and completed the team scoring. Also running for Cerritos was Daniel Gomez (Santa Fe HS), as he placed 224th in a time of 31:49.0, while Jose Ortiz (Norwalk HS) was 228th in 33:07.1. Angel Serrano (South Gate HS) was the final entry to finish the course for the Falcons with his time of33:36.4, putting him in 233rd place.
