Taking on #3-ranked Palomar College on Friday afternoon, the Cerritos College softball team saw a defensive miscue lead to a three-run inning in a 4-2 loss. The Falcons (2-2) are back in action on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. when they host #2-ranked Cypress College at Nancy Kelly Field.

Cerritos jumped out to an early 2-0 lead against the Comets, as sophomore first baseman Richere Leduc (California HS) and sophomore second baseman Alyssa Sotelo (El Rancho HS) led off the first inning with base hits. After a ground out advanced both runners, freshman outfielder Marley Manalo (Walnut HS) lofted a fly ball for a sacrifice fly that plated Leduc. With two outs, sophomore shortstop Miranda Diaz (California HS) laced a single to drive in the second run of the inning.

Palomar responded with three runs in the top of the second inning, with Aaliyah Rivas leading off with a solo home run. With one out, a fielding error by outfielder Jazmine Macias (La Mirada HS) put a runner on second base. A base hit and stolen base put runners at second and third for Cadee Hermann, who slapped a two-run single off sophomore pitcher Samantha Islas (Roosevelt HS).

The Falcons reached base just two more times after their two-run first inning, with sophomore Maddy Guillen (La Puente HS) posting the only hit.
