Hosting Glendale College in their 2023-24 season opener, the Cerritos College women's basketball team struggled with their outside shooting in a 64-45 setback on Thursday. Next up for ther Falcons will be the Riverside City Tournament, with the first game slated for 1:00 p.m. next Thursday against Irvine Valley College.

Cerritos was able to stay close to the Vaqueros until the start of the second half. That's where Glendale shot 56% from the field, while the Falcons were only 4-for-16 from the field and missed all five three-pointers. Along with the 23-9 third quarter scoring advantage by Glendale, Cerritos was left looking to score three points at a time with their outside shooting.

On the night, the Falcons were just 4-of-30 from three-point range, with two of them coming in the fourth quarter. Glendale also held a 21-8 lead in the offensive rebound category.

Leading the way for Cerritos was sophomore Melana Goodloe (Warren HS), who was 8-of-14 from the field and finished with 16 points, while she also pulled down a team-high 12 rebounds. Goodloe was the lone Falcons player to score in double figures, with sophomore guard Damarie Saldivar (Paramount HS) adding nine points, three rebounds and three assists, while freshman Jayden Estrada (Anaheim HS) contributed eight points before fouling out.
