Led by sophomore Damarie Saldivar (Paramount HS), who had 19 points, nine rebounds and eight assists, the Cerritos College women's basketball team handed visiting Los Angeles Harbor College a 58-47 defeat on Friday. The win, which was the fourth in a row for the Falcons (8-13, 3-0), keeps them in a tie for first place in the South Coast Conference South Division. The team will travel to rival Long Beach City College next Wednesday for a 7:00 p.m. game.

Cerritos jumped out to a quick lead over the Seahawks (5-17, 1-3), as they scored 12 straight points to open a 19-6 lead early in the second quarter. That advantage settled into a 36-21 lead at halftime after freshman Brianna Charles (El Rancho HS) knocked down a three-pointer in the final minute of the half.

LA Harbor did cut the lead to single digits several times, but the Falcons were able to come back each time to push their lead to as many as 14 points (56-42) in the fourth quarter.

Saldivar, who came close to posting a triple-double, also added five steals, while freshman Jayden Estrada (Anaheim HS) turned in 10 points and three assists. Sophomore Melana Goodloe (Warren HS) recorded eight points and seven rebounds, while the duo of sophomore Miah Nayback (La Serna HS) and freshman Francine Carrillo (Cerritos HS) combined for 10 points and 10 rebounds.
