Taking on Mt. San Antonio College in their lone home meet of the season, the Cerritos College women's swimming team was defeated, 203-68. The Falcons will travel to Rio Hondo College on Friday for another South Coast Conference meet and will take on the Roadrunners and Long Beach City College.

On the day, the team won one event and came in second place in six others. Freshman Amanda Loya (St. Joseph HS) turned in the fastest time in the 100-yard butterfly with a clocking of 1:02.95. She also took second place in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 58.78, while she was edged out in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 28.86, with Rosemary Garcia touching up in 28.51 to take first place.

The duo of sophomores Carla Harvey (Potomac Falls, VA HS), who placed second in three events, and Teresa Zuniga (California HS), with two second place finishes, also swam well for the Falcons. Harvey's time of 30.49 made her the runner-up in the 50-yard backstroke, while she was defeated by Garcia in the 100-yard IM, as her time of 1:09.03 put her in second place. In the 100-yard backstroke, Harvey was four seconds off the winning time by Kiersten Shaw of Mt. SAC, but touched up in 1:06.01 to place second.

For Zuniga, she just missed out on winning the 50-yard breaststroke, which went to Crystal Wang in a time of 35.08, with Zuniga's time of 35.50 earning her a second place. In the 500-yard freestyle, Zuniga completed the race in 6:07.43 to come in a distant second place.

That same trio was joined by sophomore Bianca Serrano (Cerritos HS) in the 200-yard medley relay, which came in second place with a time of 2:01.64. Serrano posted a third place time of 2:14.55 in the 200-yard freestyle, while she also came in fourth place in the 50-yard freestyle in 29.00 and 100-yard freestyle (1:01.90).
