W. Swimming: Falcons place seventh with limited entires

With limited entries at the Cuesta Invitational, the Cerritos College women's swimming team came in seventh place, as they compiled 161 team points. The Falcons will now host Mt. San Antonio College on Friday in a South Coast Conference meet.

Highlighting the Cuesta Invitational was freshman Amanda Loya (St. Joseph HS), who won the 200-yard IM, placed third in the 100-yard breaststroke and also swam a leg of the relay races. Loya posted a time of 2:21.57 to win the 200-yard IM, which was almost a second off her fastest time of the season. She also recorded a time of 1:11.63 for a third place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Sophomore Carla Harvey (Potomac Falls, VA HS) also had a strong day, as she came in third place in the 100-yard backstroke with a personal best time of 1:04.99, while her clocking of 1:07.52 earned her a sixth place time in the 100-yard butterfly. Harvey was also member of the team's relay races.

The quartet of Harvey, sophomore Teresa Zuniga (California HS), Loya and sophomore Bianca Serrano (Cerritos HS) completed the 200-yard medley relay in sixth place with a time of 2:02.17, while the same foursome posted a time of 8:59.17 to place sixth in the 800-yard freestyle relay.

Zuniga also came in 11th place in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:16.12, while Serrano turned in a time of 1:11.95 for 14th place in the 100-yard butterfly. It was a time of 2:31.98 that earned Harvey an eighth place in the 200-yard IM.
