Swimming one of her strongest events, Cerritos College sophomore swimmer Amanda Loya (St. Joseph HS) took sixth place in the 100-yard breaststroke at the CCCAA State Championships on Friday. Loya, who took 12th place in the 200-yard IM on the first day, closes out the state championships by competing in the 200-yard breaststroke on Saturday at East Los Angeles College.

In her two events, Loya has amassed 18 team points, which puts the Falcons in 24th place.

The school record holder in both breaststroke events, Loya earned the final championship time of 1:08.10 in the consolation race. She improved her time to 1:07.47 in the championship event, which netted her a sixth place. Loya's time was just shy of her school record performance of 1:07.11 that she set at the conference championships two weeks ago.
