The Cerritos College women's tennis team helped host the USTA/ITA West Regional Tournament over the weekend and had five entries competing. Although the Falcons didn't produce a champion in either singles or doubles, the players received great exposure and experience.

In singles play, incoming freshman Taylor Heath advanced to the semifinals, but was defeated, 1-6, 3-6 by eventual champion, Leticia Dos Santos of College of the Desert. Heath opened with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Vanessa Matricia of Arizona Mesa CC and followed that with a 6-2, 7-6 win over Meghedi Moordian of Glendale College. A 6-4, 6-2 sweep of Kristen Canones of Mt. San Antonio College set Heath to the semifinals.

Estefania Flores earned a pair of wins before getting eliminated, as she defeated Bailey Sindle of Ventura College (6-1, 2-6, 10-8) and then handed Annely Heinze of Riverside City College a 6-2, 6-4 decision. Flores was then eliminated by South Coast Conference singles champion Shayla Fulton of El Camino College, 0-6, 1-6. Betty Villareal (4-6, 6-2, 3-10) and Anastasia Khomyachenko (6-2, 3-6, 7-10) both played three-set matches in the opening round, but were both defeated, as was Katia Branbila, 1-6, 0-6.

The doubles tandem of Khomyachenko and Flores advanced to the semifinals after a pair of wins, but were defeated in the semifinals, 8-4 by Lanesha Cooksey and Acacia Dettman of Riverside City. Heath and Branbila dropped an 8-2 decision in the opening round of doubles action.
