For the Cerritos College women's tennis team, if they're not selected as one of the top eight teams for the Southern California Regional Team Playoffs, they will know their final regular season win came against a team that will make the post-season. On Friday, the Falcons (18-6) handed Pacific Coast Conference champion Grossmont College an 8-1 defeat. If Cerritos is not selected for the playoffs, their next competition will be the South Coast Conference Tournament from April 9-11.

In their win over the Griffins, the Falcons started by winning all three doubles matches, with two of them coming by a close 8-6 score. At the top, freshmen Taylor Heath (Cerritos HS) and Mariia Yatsenko (School 328, Ukraine), along with Merli Alcasid (Gahr HS) and Katia Brambila (Bell HS) helped Cerritos off to a strong start.

Straight set wins by five of the six singles players easily secured the win, with Heath (6-3, 6-0), Yatsenko (6-2, 6-3) and Brambila (6-0, 6-2) posting wins. Sophomore Stef Flores (Golden Valley Charter HS), earned a 6-1, 6-0 win in the #4 spot, with sophomore Amanda Del Cid (Libra Academy HS) earning a 6-1, 6-3 win playing at #6. Flores and freshman Anastasia Khomyachenko (Sochi, Russia) posted an 8-1 win in doubles, with Khomyachenko suffering a loss at the top of the singles ladder.
