W. Tennis: Team has two singles and two doubles honored

The Cerritos College women's tennis team had a pair of singles players and one doubles team receive 1st Team All-South Coast Conference recognition. In addition, they also had a doubles team honored with a 2nd Team selection. The Falcons (19-7) advanced to the semi-finals of the Southern California Team Playoffs after finishing in second place in conference play.

Named 1st Team all-conference in singles were freshmen Anastasia Khomyachenko (Sochi, Russia) and freshman Taylor Heath (Cerritos HS), while Heath and freshman Mariia Yatsenko (School 328, Ukraine) made the 1st Team doubles list. Khomyachenko and sophomore Stef Flores (Golden Valley Charter HS) made 2nd Team all-conference in doubles.

Heath and Yatsenko, seeded #2 for the CCCAA State Championships, advanced to the quarterfinals before getting eliminated. They reached the finals of the conference tournament and concluded the season with a 19-5 record. Heath went 17-7 in singles action. As for Khomyachenko, she moved into the team's #1 singles position late in the season and had a 19-8 record while she and Heath both reached the Round of 16 at the state championships.

Khomyachenko and Flores were seeded #13 at the state championships and reached the Round of 32. They concluded the year with a 21-5 record.
