The Cerritos College women's tennis team finished a busy week where they had three matches. On Friday, the Falcons (8-3) won for the second time in as many days, as they defeated visiting San Diego Mesa, 7-2 in a non-conference match. The team resumes South Coast Conference play next Tuesday when they travel to Rio Hondo College for a 2:00 p.m. match.

In the win over the Olympians, the Falcons earned wins in five of the six singles matches to clinch the team victory before doubles was played. At the top of the singles ladder, freshman Taylor Heath (Cerritos HS) swept her match, 6-0, 6-0, as did freshman Mariia Yatsenko (School 328, Ukraine) in the #3 position and seldom-used freshman Mona Nevalta in just her second match of the season.

Freshman Anastasia Khomyachenko (Sochi, Russia) and her doubles partner, sophomore Stef Flores (Golden Valley Charter HS), collectively lost just five games in singles and then posted an 8-0 win in doubles play. Pairing up for the first time in doubles, Yatsenko and Nevalta also won by an 8-0 score.
