On the strength of their 8-1 win over Long Beach City College on Thursday, the Cerritos College women's tennis team has now won a school-record 10 matches in a row. The Falcons (16-3, 7-1) will take that winning streak to Mt. San Antonio College on Tuesday in a South Coast Conference match. The Mounties handed Cerritos their lone conference loss in their first meeting.

The comfortable win allowed several players to earn some extra experience, with sophomore Amanda Del Cid (Libra Academy HS) stepped into the #5 singles position and posted a 6-1, 6-1 win, while freshman Edith Bermudez (Pioneer HS) turned in a 6-1, 6-2 victory. The duo also teamed up for an 8-5 win in doubles play.

Three other players moved up the ladder, with freshman Katia Brambila (Bell HS) registered a 6-2, 6-0 win in the #3 spot, while sophomore Merli Alcasid (Gahr HS) handed Malek Ghatassi a 6-0, 6-2 setback. Freshman Anastasia Khomyachenko (Sochi, Russia) tried to push through the flu, but ran out of gas in her second appearance in the top spot on the ladder. She fell, 6-4, 6-1 after expending all of her energy in an 8-4 doubles win with sophomore Stef Flores (Golden Valley Charter HS).

Alcasid and Brambila doubled up for an 8-2 win the #2 position, while freshman Taylor Heath (Cerritos HS) played in the #2 singles spot and won, 6-2, 6-0.
