Five members of the Cerritos College women's track and field team competed in the Combined Field Events Challenge at Mt. San Antonio College over the weekend. Next up for the Falcons will be the Cerritos Invitational this weekend, with Friday designated for the heptathlon, with Saturday reserved for the running and field events.

Coming in third place out of 11 entries over the weekend was freshman Raiven Ellis (California HS), who compiled 3556 total points for the seven events, with freshman teammate Taylor Hawkins (Narbonne HS) finishing with 3385 points to come in fifth place. Also competing in the event were freshmen Carissa Saenz (Warren HS), who finished in seventh (3084 points), Sydney Batts (Long Beach Poly HS) in ninth place (2847) and Danielle Tynes (Cerritos HS) with a 10th place total of 2544 points.

Ellis helped her cause with a second place finish in one event, a pair of third place and a fifth place over the course of the two-day event. She earned herself 480 points with her shot put that went 30' 4 1/4", while her 200-meter time of 28.30 picked her up 607 points. She also earned 567 points in the 800 meters with a time of 2:40.48. Ellis was in fifth place after the first four events, but pulled past two competitors with some strong results in the final three.

Hawkins earned big points in the 100-meter HH with a time of 16.35 for 672 points, while her 200-meter time of 28.30 garnered her 607 points. Her other strong event was the long jump, which earned her 461 points after going 15' 2 1/4". The best event for Saenz was the high jump, as her height of 4' 7 3/4" earned her 588 points, and she also picked up 534 points for a time of 29.28 in the 200 meters.
