Based on their performance at the Southern California Prelims at Riverside City College on Saturday, the Cerritos College women's tennis team will be advancing 20 athletes. The Falcons, the defending State Champion and Southern California Champion, won two events on the day and placed second in two others. They, along with the others that qualified, will travel back to Riverside City College for next Saturday's Southern California Championships.

Freshman Marielle Owens (Carson HS) came in first place in the triple jump with a distance of 11.48 meters on her final leap to edge freshman teammate Ariel Thomas (Warren HS) for the top spot. Owens had fouled on her first two attempts and needed to jump at least 10.42 meters to advance. Thomas jumped an 11.28 meters on her first attempt, and after fouling on her second, decided to pass on her third try. Freshman Raiven Ellis (California HS) took fourth place with a jump of 11.07 meters.

Freshman Destiny Mack-Talalemotu (Long Beach Millikan HS), who qualified in three events, came in first place in the shot put with a toss of 13.27 meters. He reached that distance on her first throw and then passed on her next two turns. She earned a fifth place in the hammer throw (44.46), while her toss of 36.12 meters was good for sixth in the discus. Mack-Talalemotu also qualifed in the javelin after a fifth place finish (36.22 meters).

Sophomore Dorienne Ordaz (Bravo HS) will be joining Mack-Talalemotu in two of those events, as she came in sixth in the shot put (11.65 meters) and fourth in the hammer with a throw of 44.52 meters. Despite having the eighth best discus throw in Southern California this season (38.73), her 13th place finish does not advance her to the SoCal Finals.
