Led by five first place finishes, the Cerritos College women's track and field team compiled 112 team points at the Southern California Championships to come in second place. The team points was 10 points shy of winning their third straight SoCal title, as South Coast Conference rival Mt. San Antonio College won the overall championship with 122 points, and posted four individual champions. The Falcons will now send 12 total entries, which includes both relay teams, to Mt. San Antonio for this weekend's CCCAA State Championships.

Just as they have all season, the duo of sophomore Alexus Dalton (Long Beach Poly HS) and freshman Destiny Mack-Talalemotu (Long Beach Millikan HS) have led the way for Cerritos. Each won a pair of championships, while freshman Ariel Thomas (Warren HS) also picked up a first place finish. Dalton, the defending state champion in the heptathlon and high jump, earned her first place finishes in the 100-mater HH with a school-record time of 13.90, while her long jump of 5.89 meters beat the field. She took second place in the heptathlon, while adding a sixth place in the shot put and 10th place in the javelin.

Mack-Talalemotu, the school record holder in the shot put, won the event with a distance of 13.53 meters, while her discus throw of 44.85 meters put her above the rest of the field. She missed out on her third first place finish, as Mack-Talalemotu came in second place in the javelin with a throw of 40.34 meters. She also took fifth in the hammer at 44.33, with sophomore teammate Dorienne Ordaz (Bravo HS) posting a second place distance of 47.20 meters.

In the triple jump, Thomas posted a distance of 11.56 meters on her second to last jump to move into first place, where she finished. Freshman teammate Marielle Owens (Carson HS) finished in fifth place at 11.11 meters, with freshman Raiven Ellis (California HS) on eighth place at 11.01 meters.

The 400-meter relay team finished in fifth place at 48.05 and was just edged by College of the Canyon's fourth place time of 48.04. In the 1600-meter relay, the Falcons turned in a time of 3:50.26, good for third place and right behind Mt. SAC's second place time of 3:50.21.
