In just three meets this season, freshman thrower Destiny Mack-Talalemotu (Long Beach Millikan HS) has already broken the school record in the shot put and then eclipsed that mark. Mack-Talalemotu broke the school's 30-year record with a distance of 14.01 meters, and then set a new standard on Saturday at the Cerritos Invitational when she turned in a distance of 14.41 meters. The Falcons will now host the Cerritos Quad on Friday.

The school record distance was one of seven first place finishes for the Falcons over the weekend, as Mack-Talalemotu also won the discus (42.09 meters), while she also placed second in the javelin (33.48 meters) and third in the hammer (40.07 meters). Joining Mack-Talalemotu as a double-winner was sophomore thrower Dorienne Ordaz (Bravo HS), who captured the hammer throw with a distance of 44.76, while her javelin throw that traveled 34.62 meters beat the rest of the field. She also took third in the shot put (11.10 meters) and discus (32.46 meters).

In other field events, sophomore Alexus Dalton (Long Beach Poly HS) won the long jump with a distance of 5.53 meters, while freshman teammate Marielle Owens (Carson HS) placed second at 5.17 meters, while Owens won the triple jump with a leap of 11.29 meters. Freshman Ariel Thomas (Warren HS) finished in second place at 10.62 meters. Dalton edged out the competition in the 100-meter high hurdles with a time of 14.51, with freshman Jenai Vickers (Lakewood HS) posted a fourth place time of 15.47.

Freshman Lauryn Ballard (Narbonne HS) took second place in the 100 meters with a clocking of 12.50, while freshman Ariel Melendez (St. Paul HS) saw her time of 2:26.61 earn her second place in the 800 meters, with sophomore Angelyca Osnaya-Tyson (Long Beach Poly HS) in third with a time of 2:26.80. Sophomore Patricia Hurley (Mark Keppel HS) finished the 1500 meters with a time of 5:08.94, good for second place, with freshman Citlaly Fabela (La Serna HS) posting a second place time of 1:07.56 in the 400-meter hurdles.
