Volleyball: Sara Hickman named to All-Academic Team

Sara Hickman, a 2nd Team All-South Coast Conference selection with the Cerritos College volleyball team, was named to the CCCWVCA Scholar-Athlete Team. As an outside hitter and middle blocker, Hickman will be walking on at UC San Diego and was selected by the California Community College Women's Volleyball Coaches Association based on her 3.6 GPA, in addition to her activities related to the college.

Sara Hickman was named to the CCCWVCA Scholar-Athlete Team Hickman (pictured, left) finished second on the team with 224 kills and was effective in the back row with 239 digs, while she recorded a season-high 18 kills against Victor Valley College and had double-digit kills in 10 matches.

During the school year, Hickman was part of Phi Theta Kappa and served as the Public Relations Inter-Club Council Representative. She was also a member of her team that won the Distinguished Chapter Officer Award at the Texas International Nerd Nation Conference.

A member of Student Government, Hickman served as the Commissioner of Athletes, helped initiate math tutoring for student-athletes and was involved in the Student Initiative Committee that coordinated the school's Spirit Day every month. Hickman also received $7,000 from the Kristy Pesanti Scholarship, which is in memory of the former Falcon player.
