It's rare for a team to start their season with a conference match, but the Cerritos College women's water polo team did just that on Wednesday. The Falcons (1-0, 1-0) posted an 18-2 win over host El Camino College and will follow that with another South Coast Conference match when they host Pasadena City College next Wednesday with a 3:00 p.m. start time.

From the outset of the match, Cerritos dominated and scored the first 10 goals before the Warriors had an answer of their own. After a 9-0 advantage after the first period, the Falcons took a 13-2 lead into halftime. They tacked on five more goals in the third period and pulled back on the reins by staying off the scoreboard in the final eight minutes. They didn't allow El Camino to score in the second half.

In the first period, the duo of sophomore Isabella Sierra (California HS) and freshman Hailey Rabb (Gahr HS) each accounted for a trio of goals, with sophomore Jackie Oliveros (Gahr HS) finding the back of the net three times in the second period. As a team, seven of the eight field players scored at least once, while sophomore goalkeeper Ivanna Tostado (Troy HS) posted eight saves.

In addition to her team-high five goals, Rabb recorded five assists and seven steals to lead the team. Sierra and Oliveros (four steals) both posted four goals, with freshman Lizbeth Gomez (Schurr HS) recording three steals.
