On Wednesday, the Cerritos College women's water polo team suffered their first South Coast Conference loss of the season. The Falcons (7-4 overall) dropped to 5-1 in the SCC after suffering a 15-6 setback at the hands of host Mt. San Antonio College. The loss also snapped the team's four-match winning streak. Cerritos will now compete in the Citrus Tournament and play two games both Friday and Saturday. On Friday, they will take on American River College (4:00 p.m.) and then play a 7:30 p.m. match against the host Owls. The team opens with a 9:10 a.m. match on Saturday against San Diego Miramar College before closing out the tournament with a 12:40 p.m. game against Los Angeles Valley College.

In absorbing their worst loss of the season, Cerritos trailed 7-1 early in the third quarter. The score could have been worse, but sophomore goalkeeper Ivanna Tostado (Troy HS) turned away a season-high 13 shots. But on offense, the Falcons were only able to convert on five of their 22 shot attempts. Cerritos was led by freshman Lizbeth Gomez (Schurr HS), who scored three goals, but committed five of the team's 12 turnovers on the day.

A trio of players each scored once, while freshman Hailey Rabb (Gahr HS) recorded four steals to lead the way, with a trio of players posting two each. Cerritos was also 0-for-4 on 6-on-5 advantages, with the Mounties converting both of their chances.
