With their 14-8 win over Chaffey College on Wednesday, the Cerritos College women's water polo team stayed in a three-way tie for first place in the South Coast Conference. The Falcons (5-3 overall) share an undefeated 4-0 record with Long Beach City College and Mt. San Antonio College and still have both of them upcoming on their schedule. The team will play host to a group of alumni at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the Falcon Aquatic Center.

In the win over the Panthers (4-1, 2-1), the team was in a close battle in the first period, but took a 4-2 lead after the first eight minutes. Any time Chaffey would try to threaten to tie the game, the Falcons had an answer, and it was usually in the form of freshman Lizbeth Gomez (Schurr HS). She scored three of her game-high eight goals in the second period and matched that total in the fourth period, when Cerritos scored five times to put the game out of reach.

Sophomore goalkeeper Ivanna Tostado (Troy HS) came up with several key saves when the game was still fairly close, including a five-meter attempt. She finished with 10 saves, with five coming in each half.

Joining Gomez on the scoreboard was sophomore Isabella Sierra (California HS), who accounted for four goals and two assists, while the trio of Elisa Prohroff (Schurr HS), Lindsay de Haas (Hacienda Heights Wilson HS) and Hailey Rabb (Gahr HS) each posted three assists, while Rabb also led the defense with four steals.
